San Sebastian, Spain - October 2011

San Sebastian, Spain - October 2011
Beautiful, elegant, delicious city.  The kind of city you dream about excising.  They are passionate about food and their beautiful ancient city.  The small, tight Spanish streets in the old quarter are lined with food and too small for cars.  Like other parts of Spain, you can find pinchos and tapas and small plates of all kinds, but everything here is elevated to another level.  Being this close to southern France, there is foie gras on almost every menu; we ate gold leaf; took pictures with a chef... But the ultimate confirmation that food is the driving force behind this somewhat hidden, under appreciated town is the hand drawn food map we were given at our hotel by the gracious and generous owner before even seeing our room.  San Sebastian is a special place, a stunning city.
