2015 Dominican Republic
Santo Domingo, Samana, Juan Dolio, Playa Rincon, San Pedro de Macoris, Nagua

I believe this was my 7th trip to the Dominican Republic but i'm not quite sure. I always have such a wonderful time visiting family in Santo Domingo before hitting the road for a few nights usually at a beach destination. This trip has the usual balance of driving and relaxing, including an overnight in Juan Dolio followed by a few nights in Samana which included a visit to the most beautiful beach I've ever been to, Playa Rincon. A really special, somewhat isolated small cove with no real development or anything close by except for a small restaurant and some locals selling food and giving massages. The grand imposing mountains to the right of the beach were unfortunately on fire in multiple spots while we were there. There was a herd of cattle relaxing under the shade of some small trees, no doubt enjoying the breeze, until someone walked a bit too close the they returned to the jungle. The water was bright blue and the sand pale and mostly rock free, although there were some rocks and moss in the water. There were a handful of people on the beach, which allowed us to grab a shaded spot under a tree just a few yards away from the water. A truly perfect few hours, an amazingly memorable beach. We stopped for an incredible lunch on the way back to Samana which is where the last scene comes from. The small winding roads surrounded by bright green Caribbean trees were filmed somewhere in and around Samana. Always looking forward to returning to DR!
