California: 1st day on the road

After a wonderful few days with family in Santa Barbara, on Tuesday morning Vanessa and I woke up early to drive north for a night in Cambria before our final California destination, San Francisco. Our plan was to take Highway 1 up the coast but the road was unfortunately washed out. I've been to the west coast many time but have never had the opportunity to drive this beautiful part of the state. We had an amazing day exploring. We stopped every so often to site see, shop, eat and grab coffee. What would have taken around 2.5 hours ended up taking most of the day, exactly the pace we like.
